Our story began in the early 1970s when our founder, Rocky Dixon, started a small wood shop in Southern California. Our Company History

Rocky Dixon, the founder and owner of Dixon Woodworking, Inc., has had a lifelong passion for woodworking. Growing up in Newport Beach, California, he was influenced by his creative and crafty neighbors, Walter and Virginia Johnson, who were skilled artisans. This exposure sparked Rocky's interest in woodworking, which eventually led him to the yacht and boat-building industry. He later met Marshall "Duffy" Duffield, and together, they launched the first electric boat to enter the harbor.

In the early 1970s, Rocky left the boat-building industry and opened a wood shop next door to the electric boat yard. He started building cabinets and doing small bathroom and kitchen remodels. However, his big break came when a friend's sister asked him to do the finish carpentry work on two homes her boss was building in South Laguna, California. This led him to work with Larry Snyder, a top-rate finish carpenter who taught Rocky the techniques of a real finish carpenter.
